Hybrid12 month Contract-to-HireBrooksource is searching for a System Protection & Control (SPC) Electrical Engineer for one of our large utility partners located in the Washington, DC-Baltimore region. The successful candidate will be responsible for system protection and control engineering and design deliverables for transmission and substation projects, 13 KV through 500 kV.Responsibilities:Development of one-line diagrams, elementary drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts associated with protection, metering, controls, and communications.Plan and schedule work to include developing an engineering and design scope of work, outage sequencing, and preliminary protection and/or communication diagrams.Review and approve engineering documents to include equipment specifications and material list for construction.Perform modeling using system analysis software such as ASPEN, develop studies to establish zones of protection, calculate device settings for microprocessor and electro-mechanical relays, and conduct device coordinate study. Develop protective relay steady state and dynamic test plans.Prepare settings in the relay manufacturers’ software; code/program intelligent electronic devices (IEDs)/PLCs/RTUs, develop alarm and SCADA communication point lists, and prepare test plans. Familiarity with communication protocols such as DNP3 and programming language C/C++.Conduct QA or peer reviews to check adherence to project scope, standards, and application guides, and accuracy of calculations. Preparation of QA checklists and reports for compliance with document control policies.Provide technical engineering support to field construction, testing and commissioning crews.Serve as a subject matter expert; provide technical training, instruction, and guidance to junior engineers, peers, and field personnel.Minimum QualificationsBachelors Degree in Engineering5 years of related experienceExperience with modeling systems (ex: Aspen)Experience with SCADAExperience with configuring and physically setting up relay systemsStrong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levelsStrong written and oral communication skillsExperience in the development and review of elementary wiring diagrams & electrical schematicsAbility to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancementsPreferred QualificationsLicensed Professional EngineerA working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, Aspen OneLiner, etc.Experience with setting configuration software of protective relays, including software platforms produced by General Electric (GE), Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL), Basler, among othersExperience with setting configuration of metering, automation controllers, and networking software, including setting software for Siemens, Schweitzer, SATEC, and Bitronics devicesEight Eleven Group offers Health, Dental and Vision benefits, weekly pay, holiday paid time off and sick leave.
