OverviewDirector of Electrical Engineering, Power Delivery role at Pond & Company. We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering, Power Delivery to lead our expanding team of energy professionals, with a focus on substation and transmission engineering. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of related experience and will be based in one of the following Pond offices: Atlanta, GA; Peachtree Corners, GA; Tampa, FL; The Woodlands, TX; or Denver, CO. The role supports the Power Services program for clients across the United States. Projects will span multiple markets and geographies, offering broad opportunities to expand knowledge and deepen expertise in design projects. We are seeking a self-starter who can work independently and contribute strategically to the success of the team and projects.As the Director, you will provide strategic leadership for the Power Delivery engineering team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You’ll develop and implement processes to enhance team performance, project efficiency, and client satisfaction. Building and maintaining strong client relationships will be key, as you’ll foster trust and identify opportunities for business growth. You will lead the design of electric transmission and substation projects, overseeing layouts, routing, and electrical design for voltages ranging from LV to EHV. Additionally, you will manage project scoping, cost estimating, and proposal development, and be responsible for mentoring the engineering team to drive technical growth and innovation. Collaborating with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure successful project execution, meeting budget, schedule, and quality requirements. You’ll also review engineering deliverables to ensure they meet industry and client standards. Representing Pond at client meetings, job sites, and industry conferences will be part of your role, along with supporting multiple concurrent projects while fostering collaboration and team efficiency.ResponsibilitiesLead the design of electric transmission and substation projects, overseeing layouts, routing, and electrical design for voltages from LV to EHV.Manage project scoping, cost estimating, and proposal development.Mentor and develop a technical team to drive growth, innovation, and high-quality deliverables.Develop and implement processes to improve team performance, project efficiency, and client satisfaction.Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for business growth.Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure on-time, on-budget project execution.Review engineering deliverables for compliance with industry standards and client requirements.Represent Pond in client meetings, sites, and industry conferences.QualificationsBachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Master’s Degree encouraged.Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.15+ years of experience in transmission and substation design services.Experience leading technical teams and providing mentorship.Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and design software.Strong teamwork, positive attitude, ability to multi-task, and self-motivation to produce high-quality work.Willingness to learn and grow professionally.About PondPond is an award-winning, full-service architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and environmental services firm providing professional solutions to clients in the U.S. and globally for nearly 60 years.
