Our extensive workforce includes both union and nonunion teams, which, combined with our specialized equipment fleet, allows us to effectively meet our clients/' needs for power delivery, emergency restoration, and ongoing maintenance. We/'ve been involved in some of the most challenging and recognizable electric projects across the U.S. From the electric plant to the end users, MasTec/'s experienced managers and crews consistently deliver transmission, distribution, and substation & switchyard services with an unfailing commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices.This is a remote position but must have PE License for the state of California.ResponsibilitiesProject Oversight: Direct and manage projects to achieve high standards of quality, adherence to schedules, and budget goals. Ensure timely completion by overseeing and coordinating all project activities.Design Execution: Develop and update design documents, including one-line diagrams, electrical plans, and specifications. Use engineering software for tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, load flow, and short circuit analysis.Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with customers, project teams, and management to ensure smooth project execution. Prepare and manage project schedules and budgets, addressing any deviations promptly.Standards Compliance: Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI) and utilize the document management system effectively.Problem Solving: Identify potential project issues and provide solutions. Travel as required for project needs and perform additional duties as assigned.Travel: Undertake short-term travel as required by project assignments.QualificationsBachelor/'s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution, with a preference for a focus on power systems.Minimum of 5 years of experience in high voltage (230kV and above) electrical substation engineering and design.Experience with protection and controls or electrical studiesProfessional Engineer license for state of CaliforniaSkillsTechnical Expertise: Advanced understanding of high voltage electrical substation components, AC/DC fundamentals, and three-phase power systems.
