DescriptionBETA Group, Inc is looking to bring on a Senior Structural Engineer/Project Manager to join our team. This role is for a Project Manager and team leader in our structural engineering group. The candidate will have the opportunity will lead bridge assignments for MassDOT, RIDOT, other state agencies, and municipalities. In addition, they will have the opportunity to manage projects and design other structures for municipalities, oversee the preparation of contract plans and documents, and mentor junior staff. The projects BETA works on offer a wide variety of opportunities to broaden your skillset and gain valuable experience.Responsibilities:Manage projects from development of scopes, budgets and schedules through to design and construction phase services on a variety of bridge rehabilitation and replacement and other projectsWork with staff to produce planning documents, advance detailed engineering designs, develop and review contract documents for constructionProduce high-quality designs and reports, responsible for ensuring proper quality control procedures on all projectsSupervise/coordinate/mentor junior staff; instruct them on technical procedures and review their work for accuracyCoordinate with clients and drive assigned projects to completionPlan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of projectsManage multiple ongoing projectsContinue to broaden technical skills within the chosen disciplineLead team, client and public meetingsOversee, collaborate and communicate with multi-discipline subconsultants across internal disciplines/office locations to complete projects on time and on budgetPreferred location is BETA’s Norwood office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.Growth Opportunities:BETA encourages and promotes employee advancement and career developmentLeads to potential advancement to more senior technical positions and project managementRequirementsRequired Experience/Skills:Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) License13+ years of bridge engineering experienceDemonstrated strong background in structural/bridge engineeringMassDOT design experienceProject management experienceKnowledge and experience with the implementation of planning, design, bidding and construction oversight of bridge projectsSkilled in writing and ability to prepare formal reportsStrong leadership and organizational skillsMust be able to collect field data and measurements; and perform inspections for bridges and other structuresExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsEnthusiasm to learn and willingness to take on responsibilityWilling to work in a collaborative team environmentMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience/Skills:Proficient in AutoCADProficient in OpenBridge Designer, SAP2000, AASHTOWare BrR, ExcelStrong background in structural analysisRIDOT, NHDOT, CTDOT, or MaineDOT design experienceAbout BETA:BETA Group, Inc. is a New England based consultant engineering firm and leader in the fields of transportation, traffic, structural, civil/site, and water/wastewater engineering; landscape architecture; urban design and planning; GIS/asset management; environmental sciences and permitting; and construction services.
