Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.PHYSICAL SECURITY HARDWARE SPECIALISTThe Physical Security Hardware Specialist is responsible for assembling, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing regular maintenance on security system infrastructure and security video management systems. This role will operate in multiple environments and facilities that support SpaceX's overall goals. While working to ensure the highest added value to the security posture, these specialists work closely alongside other security staff and internal/external stakeholders. Along with installation, service, and maintenance, these specialists will assist in developing use procedures and in training system users.RESPONSIBILITIES:Install security technology solutions, including access control, closed circuit televisions (CCTV), and other platformsMaintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as neededEnsure maintenance on installed systems and hardware is performed and trackedAssist in job walks and in determining needs for new installations and redesignsFabricate, repair, and assemble hardware/equipment needed for security technology operationsCollaborate with all staff members in the development and use of proper procedures in support of security technology use by Physical TechnologyEnsure all components and materials are clean and serviceableObtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as requiredMonitor and maintain a reasonable inventory of replacement hardware, general use materials, and toolsAcquire proper inventory parts and equipment needed for the repair or replacement of defective componentsProcess work orders and support (Facilities, Information Technology, etc.) ticketsAssist in vendor scheduling, installation, and subcontracting activities on large and complex facility security system infrastructureMaintain documentation of job status, job change revisions, material flow, and other project recordsPerform a variety of related duties in support of Physical Security, as neededDevelop novel ways to streamline processes and increase the reliability of security technologyWork with Lenel and Avigilon system administrators to manage access control and CCTV systems at the regional and global level as neededBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificateExperience working with security systems, such as CCTV, access control, intrusion detection systems, or other comparable systems, such as fire and alarm systemsPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:3+ years of experience using power tools, hand tools, and calibrated toolingExisting knowledge of Lenel Access Control software, Avigilon Digital Camera software, and Microsoft VISIOLenel certificationAvigilon certificationExperience in the space exploration industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environmentBasic computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and photo generation/compilationAbility to read and understand operating system schematics and drawingsUse of precision measuring instruments/equipmentCommunication skills for relaying data (verbally and in-writing) between other employees and customersAbility to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environmentEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, community groups and the general publicADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Valid driver’s licenseWork is often performed in tight quarters and physical dexterity is necessary to perform job functionsAbility to lift up to 35lbs. unassistedAbility to pass background screening for access to facilities housed on the Department of Defense (DOD) installationsComfortable working at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with appropriate safety gearComfortable working in extreme outdoor environments heat, cold, rain, fortable working in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noiseWork hours depend on site priorities and may require extended hours, weekends and holidays; flexibility requiredWilling to travel as needed to other SpaceX sitesITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
