Job Title: Structural Engineer with Commercial Diving Certification Moffatt & Nichol, a leader in waterfront infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced structural engineering professional with commercial diving certifications for our Southern California offices, including Long Beach (preferred), Costa Mesa, Carlsbad, or San Diego, CA. About the Role The successful candidate will work with a team providing inspection and rehabilitation design services for marine structures, primarily in Southern California and Hawaii, with occasional travel across the U.S. and internationally. Responsibilities include conducting above and underwater inspections, report writing, and developing repair or replacement designs, with client-facing duties in the SoCal region. Recognized for excellence, we are committed to innovative, sustainable solutions. Key Responsibilities Conduct and supervise site investigations of waterfront infrastructure. Manage projects ensuring timely and within-budget delivery. Collaborate across teams and disciplines. Assess and analyze marine structural components. Engage in cost-benefit analyses with clients. Perform inspections using commercial diving methods, adhering to safety standards. Assist in technical report and manual writing. Maintain compliance with relevant standards and policies. Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Perform technical design and cost estimation independently. Support business development activities. Travel as required, including overnight stays. Perform additional duties as needed. Qualifications BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering. PE licensure; California license desired within 12 months. Commercial Diver certification (ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS, or military equivalent). 10-15+ years of structural assessment experience. Preferred: Certified Dive Supervisor, Boater Safety Card, ability to obtain security clearances, TWIC, First Aid/CPR/AED certifications. Strong communication skills and proven inspection experience. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel. Physical fitness required for diving and fieldwork. Compensation and Conditions Salary range: $122,000 - $163,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus dive pay and equipment reimbursement. Work environment includes office and field work, with physical demands related to diving and site inspections. Extended hours and travel may be required.
