As the Industrial Storage fleet grows, Tesla is also committed to having an industry-leading uptime in our deployed fleet of commercial and utility scale batteries across a variety of grid-scale applications.We use data collected from our highly connected systems to monitor product performance, find problems before the customer does and to systematically eliminate the causes of downtime. The Industrial Storage team is seeking a product engineer to lead the system-level integration aspects across electronics design, firmware and software and service operations to support new feature release and diagnostics across our fleet of energy storage systems.You will work with a team of engineers to pilot new firmware features, troubleshoot unexpected behavior, develop onboard diagnostic self-tests and feedback fleet analysis to development teams.Ultimately, you will be responsible for supporting commissioning activities and improving the customer operational uptime in Tesla’s stationary batteries used by commercial and utility scale customers in grid connected and microgrid applications.To be successful, in this role you will need to be skilled at troubleshooting electronic systems, mechanical systems, and computer networks, as well as using Linux operating systems, developing your own Python code and manipulating SQL data.If you are a “maker” that loves to solve problems, this is the role for you.What You'll DoTroubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues that cause downtime for Tesla’s Industrial Storage customersLead cross-functional efforts to drive actions with design, firmware development, field service, and the technical support teams as required to systematically prevent known issues from reoccurringMine data logged by Tesla’s Industrial Storage fleet to define the signature for a failure mode and utilize Tesla automation tools to programmatically diagnosis and react to future occurrences of that failure modeDefine the actions that need to be taken by the field service and technical support teams when a specific failure mode occurs, publish those actions in Tesla’s Service tools, and develop any specialized training required to complete those actionsQuantify the benefit of a product or manufacturing improvement opportunity and work with the engineering and manufacturing teams to implement the improvement for existing and future products as appropriateProvide support on escalated customer cases from around the world to minimize system downtime for Tesla’s customersWork with field service and technical support teams to create the documentation and training necessary to commission, operate, repair, and service Tesla’s Industrial Storage products installed globallyWhat You'll BringDegree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience using SQL and Python for data analysis on very large databasesExperience with managing or maintaining equipment running Linux based applicationsStrong engineering fundamentals and intuition, applied to firmware/software-enabled systemsPrior experience troubleshooting electrical, system, firmware, or process failure modesProven cross-functional leadership and collaborative skills An excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce clear and concise written documents and diagramsExperience with battery systems and power systems is a plusBenefitsCompensation and BenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSAHealthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefitsCompany paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramSick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid HolidaysBack-up childcare and parenting support resourcesVoluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insuranceWeight Loss and Tobacco Cessation ProgramsTesla Babies programCommuter benefitsEmployee discounts and perks programExpected Compensation$100,160 - $225,840/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
