Principal VDI Desktop Engineer SME

OverviewPrestigious Financial Institution is currently seeking a Principal VDI Desktop Engineer SME. Candidate will be responsible for improving the overall end user experience through automation and design. This position will be responsible for developing and improving the end-user desktop environment. The role will provide operational support for the existing and future end user computing architectures. Responsibilities also include designing solutions to support existing and future services and enhance security posture, while acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Desktop Engineering managed solutions.***We are unable to sponsor for this permanent full-time role******Position is bonus eligible*** ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement engineering solutions for the desktop environmentLead and manage technical projects from conception to completionPackage application deployments for end-user environment using VMware AppStacks and similar technologiesCreate technical specifications and architectural designs for complex solutionsEstablish technical standards, best practices, and design patterns for the teamResearch and evaluate emerging technologies to recommend strategic adoptionTroubleshoots application installation, performance, and runtime issues within the desktop environmentsMaintain and oversee Operating System base builds to include feature updates, software updates, and/or vulnerability remediationMeet with Business, IT and Security Leaders to develop requirements and communicate changes to the environmentChallenge the status quo with new ideas and drive innovation for the end user experienceApplies comprehensive knowledge of concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignmentsAutomate processes in the end-user experience spaceMaintains and troubleshoot Office 365 environmentTroubleshoots production problems related to desktop and mobile software applicationsAddresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platformsAssists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing toolsRemove barriers and obstacles from end-user technology to enable the businessProvides tactical and strategic input on the overall End User experienceProvides on-call support according to assigned scheduleDocuments changes, policies and procedures and drawingsLeads projects of various sizes and schedulesProvide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering teamMentor members of the Desktop Engineering teamPerform other duties as assigned Qualifications[Required] Understanding of risk and controls within processes[Required] Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, team, and leadership[Required] Ability to serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex issues[Required] Demonstrated expertise in desktop engineering architecture and design[Required] Ability to work proactively in identifying risks and proposing solutions[Required] Ability to plan/manage/prioritize work to meet objectives of multiple priorities/projects[Required] Strong presentation and communication skills[Required] Strong analytical skills with an interest in designing innovative solutions[Required] Strong written and verbal communication skills are critical, including the ability to discuss technical concepts with non-technical personnel[Required] Negotiation skills including listening and persuasion[Required] Strong ability to use solution-oriented approach towards problem resolution[Required] Experience deploying applications across enterprise desktop workstations using modern tools[Required] Experience with a scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, etc.)[Required] Minimum of 3+ years of experience with desktop management solutions[Required] Minimum of 3+ years of experience with O365[Required] Desktop Application Troubleshooting[Required] Experience operating in a DevOps culture[Required] Passion to identify, investigate, and drive new technology within the organization Education and/or Experience[Required] Bachelor/'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field or equivalent experience[Required] Minimum 5 years of experience in desktop engineering or end-user computing roles[Required] Minimum 3 years of experience in desktop engineering or end-user computing roles Certificates or Licenses[Preferred] Relevant Microsoft certifications such as MCSE, Microsoft 365 Certified[Preferred] Relevant Microsoft certifications such as Windows Virtual Desktop Specialty[Preferred] Relevant VMware certifications such as Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) Seniority levelMid-Senior level Employment typeFull-time Job functionInformation Technology Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Request Technology, LLC by 2xGet notified about new Virtualization Engineer jobs in Chicago, IL. #J-18808-Ljbffr
