This professional engineer will utilize a flexible hybrid model that includes engineering, design, and specification of fire protection systems for governmental, education, commercial, and entertainment market sectors.What a day at EXP has in store for youRevit and CAD proficient with fire protection drawingsDevelop sections, riser diagrams and elevations of complex equipment and piping areasDevelop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phasesDetermine content of drawings and specs to meet project scopeEdit specifications to reflect project requirementsSelect and schedule equipment with limited oversightMeet with vendors to determine specification requirementsCritically evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimatesMaintain the Engineering Book for the projectRespond to RFIs and review submittalsManage design process across multiple projects within the available work hoursCollaborate with team, project manager and clients to meet milestonesResolve installation problems on site and perform site surveys independentlyConduct code research to comply with local codes and meet with code officialsMaintain a thorough understanding of NFPA codes, IBC, ASHRAE, ASME and OSHAWrite new specification sections and develop details as neededApply risk management to minimize EXP’s and client’s exposureDraft scope of work narratives, basis of design, and related documentsPrepare studies and reports for fire protection systemsSelect pumps and accessories for proper pressures and flows; design pump roomsDirect water flow tests and understand gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise designDemonstrate knowledge of Factory Mutual standardsAnalyze fire hazards and mitigate risks through proper designCoordinate construction and be familiar with building structures and materialsExperience with fire modeling and simulation softwareStrong management and organizational skillsExperience in conducting existing fire protection system and risk assessmentsExperience with wet pipe systems per NFPA 13, NFPA 14Your Experience Looks Like4+ years of building fire protection design experience across commercial projects and multiple industry segments (governmental, education, commercial, entertainment, etc.)Engineering degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent) preferredRegistered Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) or eligible for immediate registrationREVIT MEP and AutoCAD proficiencyAbility to travel to client meetings and project sites for walkthrough activitiesCompensation and BenefitsThe pay range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and location.
