Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are seeking a Risk Analysis Engineer to join our recycling engineering team.Position Description:The Risk Analysis Engineer is responsible for conducting probabilistic/quantitative risk analyses (PRAs/QRAs) to support Oklo’s used nuclear fuel (UNF) recycling facility design, licensing, deployment, and operation. Risk analysis engineers work with other members of Oklo’s recycling facility engineering design teams to conduct PRAs/QRAs of Oklo’s UNF recycling facility, including identification of initiating events, development of event trees and fault trees, quantification of event sequence probabilities, and evaluation of event sequence consequences. Risk insights from these studies are incorporated into the design to drive improvements in reliability and safety.Responsibilities:Developing PRA/QRA models of the Oklo UNF recycling facilityWorking with other members of the Oklo recycling engineering teams to identify and analyze event sequences, compile risk insights, and incorporate risk insights into the recycling facility design to maximize system availability, reliability, and safetyApplying PRA techniques to evaluate both internal process hazards and external natural phenomena hazardsSupporting licensing activities through generation of technical reports, technical analyses, and supporting documentationAbout you / Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field; a master’s or Ph.D. is highly desirable3-5 years of experience in nuclear safety or similar environmentExperience conducting Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and/or other process hazard analysis methodologiesDemonstrated expertise in methodologies and software used for nuclear PRA/QRA (e.g., CAFTA, SAPHIRE, ADAPT, RAVEN, etc.)Strong writing and verbal communication skills; ability to write in a modern active voice and communicate technical content clearlyBonus Qualifications:Knowledge of nuclear fuel cycle processes and nuclear fuel cycle facility accident scenariosKnowledge of used nuclear fuel recycling technologiesKnowledge of applicable nuclear safety regulations and guidance documentsExperience with fuel cycle facility design and analysisExperience with uncertainty-, transient-, and/or source term analysesExperience with human reliability-, external hazards-, and fire hazards analysesExperience with Python or other computer codesExperience in operations, maintenance, or engineering support of operating fuel cycle facilitiesWho you are:A startup person: you prefer efficiency over heavy process and thrive in a fast-paced teamMotivated: self-motivated and passionate about the vision and team goalsA team-player: you value collaboration and collective successAn excellent communicator: able to convey technical content clearlyCreative: comfortable solving open-ended problems and proposing novel solutionsDetail-oriented: strong focus on quality, grammar, and clear communicationAbout Oklo compensation: $85,000-$165,000 annuallyOklo offers flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.We are looking to fill this position immediately!About Oklo Inc.: Oklo Inc. is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale; establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes; and advancing nuclear fuel recycling to convert nuclear waste into clean energy.
