Attention Senior Environmental Consultants looking to grow their career and help grow an Environmental Permitting practice in Massachusetts and adjacent areas of New England. Our Environmental Services team provides a small company feel while supporting clients and projects at the local and national level. This core group consists of a diverse team of environmental and regulatory specialists in Massachusetts and throughout New England. Our Northeast Environmental Services team includes a deep bench of staff with diverse technical capabilities, who embrace the company culture of collaboration. Stantec will keep your application in our recruiting system as a potential candidate who could possibly fill a position when or if the need arises individuals.Your Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership on projects and thought leadership on solutions to environmental challenges for energy and other infrastructure projectsLead our teams that collect and report on tasks that will include, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, land use mapping and vegetation cover classification, and other natural resource-focused surveys.Coordinate, oversee, and prepare permit applications for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Massachusetts DEP Division of Wetlands and Waterways, Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act, and Massachusetts, Public Waterfront ActDevelop proposal strategies and lead/collaborate with a broader proposal teamPartner with our engineer and design teams to deliver successful energy projectsLead business development initiatives with new and existing clientsLead the delivery of high-quality service on client projectsEffectively communicate data collection methods and results to varied audiences that include clients, regulators, and the publicRecruit, mentor, and support the professional development of staffYour Capabilities and CredentialsMinimum 10 years’ experienceDemonstrated ability to successfully lead diverse project teams and manage large complex projects, particularly energy projectsExperience with local, state, and federal environmental permitting in Massachusetts including experience with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, MESA, MEPA, CEPA, Chapter 91, Sections 401, 404, and 408 of the Clean Water Act (and associated Massachusetts Quality Certification requirements). Experience with permitting in other New England states is a plus.Demonstrated experience in managing permitting applications and projects from start to finishAn enthusiastic attitude to collaborate with others and be a key part of a team focused on building a regional permitting programAbility to review project work, quantities, costs, accuracy of specifications, completeness, and constructabilityExceptional written and verbal communication skills; including advanced technical writing abilitiesAbility to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneouslyAbility to perform work accurately in a detail-oriented environment, and meet project deadlinesAbility to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materialsDemonstrated ability to build and lead teams, and successfully interact with clients, counsel, and stakeholdersAbility to work well independently and with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environmentEducation and CertificationsBachelors degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geology, or a related field is required.
