We are passionate, deliberate, and driven by our mission - to enable our clients to make the world healthier, safer, and cleaner.Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is an outstanding partnership that allows our customers to use the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.This is an onsite position located in Foster City, CA.ScopeAs an Automation Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our internal instrument development teams and our clients. You will serve as the onsite point of contact for automation implementation, application support, and technical troubleshooting, ensuring seamless integration of our solutions into client workflows. A key component of your role will involve using TFS's Momentum Scheduling software, . You will help clients configure and operate the software's modular components to streamline and scale their laboratory operations.Essential FunctionsLead the onsite deployment of the existing and future TFS's Momentum Scheduling software, including hardware setup, software configuration, and system validation. Ensure seamless integration of Thermo Fisher instruments and third-party devices into the automation ecosystem.Act as the primary onsite point of contact for clients during installation, training, and ongoing support. Build positive relationships with client team members to ensure satisfaction and long-term success.Gather and communicate client feedback, workflow challenges, and enhancement requests to internal development teams.Collaborate with engineering and applications teams to implement technical improvements, address hardware and software automation issues, and perform routine maintenance to ensure efficient performance.Ensure all automation activities align with relevant safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Promote standard processes in laboratory automation and data integrity.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesExpertise in operating, customizing workflows and troubleshooting standalone liquid handlers from multiple vendors and integrated automation systems (e.g., inSPIRE, HighRes Biosolutions Cellario, etc.)( nice to have - Thermo Scientific inSPIRE Collaborative Laboratory Automation Platform the world's first collaborative automation system designed to integrate instruments, software, and people into a unified, intuitive workflow)Experience with automation scripting environments and scheduling software (e.g., Momentum, Cellario, FluentControl, VENUS, etc.)Familiarity of cell and molecular biology workflows using a variety of instrumentation (e.g., liquid handlers, plate washers, flow cytometers, thermal cyclers, spectrophotometers, etc.)Experience in automating flow cytometry sample preparation and data analysisPrevious experience automating high throughput cell and molecular biology workflows for increased throughput, capacity, or consistencyPrevious experience in onsite automation engineering customer supportIndependently performing routine preventative maintenance and equipment repairsData analytics and integration with existing client LIMS platformsWilling to travel to and work from customer sites on a routine basisMinimum QualificationsAutomation Specialist III: Bachelor's degree in a related field of engineering (e.g., automation, mechanical, electrical, biomedical) or science (e.g., biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry) with 5 years of scientific laboratory automation experience.Sr Automation Specialist: Bachelor's degree in a related field of engineering (e.g., automation, mechanical, electrical, biomedical) or science (e.g., biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry) with 7 years of scientific laboratory automation some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.We offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus, healthcare, and a range of employee benefits.
