We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for next-gen operations at scale, using Python infra-as-code from bare metal to containers and applications.Location: Globally remote role.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and run OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software defined storage in a devsecops environment from bare metal to applications.Bring Python software-engineering rigor to the operations domain and apply automation as a core software problem, not a hack.Operate at scale with metrics- and code-driven approaches, learning the entire stack from bare metal networking and kernel to serverless and open source applications.Work in a high-pressure operations environment with mission-critical services for global brand-name customers.Collaborate in a distributed team to evolve cloud offerings with the latest open source infrastructure capabilities.Participate in team sprints and ongoing professional development consistent with a remote, global team.What we are looking for in youFluent in Python; strong software engineering background.Genuine interest in the full open source infrastructure stack from metal to containers.Ability to work in a high-pressure operations environment with mission-critical services.QualificationsDegree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.Experience with Linux and familiarity with Linux networking and storage.Python software development expertise.Operational experience.Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.Nice-to-have skillsExperience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations.Familiarity with public or private cloud management.What we offer colleaguesDistributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person.Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.Annual compensation review and a performance-driven bonus or commission where applicable.Additional benefits reflecting our values, with programs aligned to local needs globally.Annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave, and Employee Assistance Programme.Opportunities to travel to new locations to meet colleagues; travel upgrades for long-haul events.About CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source and publishes Ubuntu.
