OverviewPrincipal / Senior Principal Survivability Engineer (Level 3 or 4) — R10202221Location: Rancho Dominguez, CA; Carson, CA (as listed). Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time. Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance: DoD Secret or higher; SAP PAR may be required to start. This position can be filled at Principal Survivability Engineer (Level 3) or Senior Principal Survivability Engineer (Level 4) based on qualifications.The role focuses on Stealth/Low Observable (LO) technology, radar cross section (RCS), electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic signatures, and Survivability engineering. You will collaborate within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to optimize designs that meet stealth requirements while balancing other engineering disciplines.ResponsibilitiesUse the latest classified technology to reduce aircraft detectability in electromagnetic, infrared, visual, and acoustic spectrums.Predict design performance using proprietary analysis codes and validate with physical models and tests.Verify predictions by building and testing physical models to confirm design intent.Optimize stealth designs while satisfying all other engineering requirements.Assume responsibility for achieving customer goals within an IPT environment and coordinate with multiple disciplines. Thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative setting with diverse assignments.Basic QualificationsDemonstrated experience in stealth design integration, product support, or antenna integration.At least 2 years of experience in RF signature design and prediction (modeling and analysis).Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance required.SAP/PAR process to be initiated for the selected candidate; must be active before start date.Education/Experience: Principal Survivability Engineer — Bachelor’s in a STEM field and 5 years of relevant experience, OR Master’s with 3 years; Senior Principal Survivability Engineer — Bachelor’s in STEM and 8 years of relevant experience, OR Master’s with 6 years, OR PhD with 5 years.Preferred QualificationsExperience with classified, cutting-edge technology to reduce detectability across spectrums (EM, IR, visual, acoustic).Familiarity with Northrop Grumman proprietary computational EM codes or similar tools.Capability to plan and implement RF modeling and testing of complex classified targets at premier RCS/RF facilities.Working knowledge of other disciplines to optimize Stealth goals and balanced design.Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills for collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team and customers.Knowledge of Applied Electromagnetics / Aircraft Survivability and EM energy transmission.Ability to post-process complex EM data to identify trends for stealth optimization.Master’s degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering or related field; U.S. government DoD Top Secret clearance with PAR/SAP eligibility.Salary and BenefitsSalary Range: $104,600.00 – $157,000.00; Salary Range 2: $129,700.00 – $194,500.00. The range is a guideline and may depend on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives where applicable.
