OverviewSenior Manufacturing Engineer - Motor Case at Castelion. Castelion is pursuing an expert in the manufacture and design of high performance solid rocket motor cases. This role collaborates with design engineering and technician teams to support testing, validation, and manufacturing changes to mature products for flight testing and production. A desire for product and process ownership is required.ResponsibilitiesWork with component design engineering teams to determine the manufacturing and testing feasibility of productsOperate as a standalone resource responsible for a family of mechanismsArchitect, mature and develop testing and validation procedures for a wide array of complex mechanismsGenerate concept proposals aligned with R&D efforts to aid requirements gatheringDown select solutions based on quantifiable vehicle attributes, system cost and weightPropose and defend solutions in engineering review meetingsDevelop and refine process documentation including build instructions, test and validation procedures, health and safety standards, and mBOMsCreate, maintain, and communicate detailed production plans and schedulesWork closely with supply chain to develop new and existing suppliers as neededDesign, develop and implement production tooling and equipmentParticipate in design reviews to drive design for manufacturing (DFM)Oversee introduction and implementation of new products and manufacturing capabilitiesAnalyze and resolve manufacturing issues and non-conformancesDevelop, mentor, and train peers and colleaguesBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering, or other technical degree5+ years of mechanisms manufacturing, testing and validation experienceExperience with operations/product line managementDemonstrated direct or indirect leadershipProficiency in CAD/CAM software (NX preferred)Experience in selection, procurement, and implementation/validation of manufacturing equipmentPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience in mechanisms design, testing and validation from high volume production environmentsExperience developing comprehensive testing and validation procedures and the required documentation processesExperience in qualification and acceptance testing of complex aerospace mechanismsWorking experience with capacity modeling, process mapping, Lean/Six Sigma and value stream mappingExperience in transitioning development processes to rate productionAdditional RequirementsMust be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as neededMust be able to travel up to 10% of the timeLeadership QualitiesBias to Action and Creative Problem Solving. Desire and experience questioning assumptions in ways that lead to break through ideas that are implemented.
