Fire Protection Engineer - Casual and RemoteJoin us at EXP as a Fire Protection Engineer - Casual and Remote. We are seeking a professional to support projects primarily from our Chicago Headquarters, utilizing our flexible hybrid model that includes engineering, design, and specification of fire protection systems for various sectors such as governmental, education, commercial, and entertainment.Responsibilities include:Proficient in Revit and CAD for fire protection drawingsDeveloping sections, riser diagrams, and elevations of complex equipment and piping areasDetermining equipment room sizes during SD and DD phasesCreating and editing specifications and scope of work to meet project requirementsEquipment selection and scheduling with limited oversightVendor meetings for specification requirementsEvaluating contractor pricing and cost estimatesResponding to RFIs and reviewing submittalsManaging design processes across multiple projects within work plan hoursCollaborating with team, project managers, and clients to meet milestonesResolving installation issues on-siteConducting site surveys independentlyResearching codes and liaising with code officialsApplying knowledge of NFPA, IBC, ASHRAE, ASME, OSHA standardsWriting specifications, studies, and reports for fire protection systemsDesigning fire pump layouts and conducting flow testsUnderstanding gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise designApplying risk management procedures dailyCoordinating construction activities and ensuring complianceGaining experience with fire modeling software and fire hazard analysisQualifications:4+ years of fire protection design experience in commercial projectsDegree in Architectural, Mechanical, or Fire Protection Engineering (preferred)Registered Fire Protection Engineer or eligibleProficiency in REVIT MEP and AutoCADWillingness to travel for client meetings and site visitsThe salary range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000, with benefits including health insurance, vacation, and 401(k).About EXP: Founded in 1906, EXP provides innovative engineering, architecture, and consulting services worldwide.
