Job Description The Director of Engineering develops and manages program and departmental planning, budgeting, and administration. Provides direction and management to direct reports and all department team members, ensuring a reliable and safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. Manages documentation of state, local, federal, and The Joint Commission standards/codes to ensure compliance. Director, Engineering Job Responsibilities Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure effective performance, including business strategy, legal compliance, stakeholder communication, employment decisions, and budget management. Provides technical, physical, and systems analyses to support hospital projects, problem resolution, and improvements. Performs personnel evaluations, staff development, retention, and hiring decisions. Directs operations of hospital utility systems including planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, biomedical, environmental, and structural systems. Oversees reconstruction planning for hospital utility system additions or alterations. Develops and manages maintenance and repair programs for hospital utility systems. Provides leadership and direction to department staff, including setting performance standards, goals, and feedback.
