Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for an Electrical Engineer with a specialty in power systems to join our Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation (MEI) team in San Diego. The successful Electrical Engineer will work on both large and small projects locally, domestically and internationally. Projects include: ports, cargo terminals, shipyards, large and small marinas, port authority, and municipal. We are looking forward to mentoring and developing your skills in the growing horizontal / infrastructure market! You will work with an international MEI team and Senior Engineers around the company through our intraoffice staff utilization program. Thus, growing your skills beyond the state and country for which you work. The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm’s hallmark in several primary practice areas – ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy.Duties and responsibilities:Complete electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers (any discipline) and electrical teammatesProvide design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for the following but not limited to:Medium/low voltage power distribution systemsGrounding systemsLighting systemsLightning protection systemsCommunications systemsElectrical equipment design (including switchboards and switchgear)Selective coordination and arc flash studiesAssist with the electrical designs for multidiscipline projectsAssist with evaluations of project scopesTravel to the site or meet with clients, sub-consultants, utilities, and other parties to investigate site conditions and meet project requirementsAssist in companywide Quality Assurance and Quality Control processesSuccessfully communicate and interact with internal and external clients and team membersOther duties:Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering TechnologyProfessional Engineer licensure in the State of California or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 18 months of hire6 to 10 years of related experience in:Medium/low voltage power distribution systemsGrounding systemsLighting systemsCommunications systemsElectrical equipment design and specifications (including switchboards and switchgear)Power System studies preferredWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is requiredProficiency ETAP or EasyPower and AGI32 are preferred but not requiredAnalytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), report and letter writing and oral communication skills.Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hireBase salary range:$131,500 to $160,500 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California market.Physical requirements:Majority of work is office based.
