Join to apply for the Industrial Design Engineer, Ops Engineering, GES role at Amazon Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Ops Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering project leader to lead initiatives in developing and delivering next-generation, world-class sortation and transportation systems. The Firm Engineering Team will support retrofit designs for first mile retrofits as well as controls & solutions development for future projects. We aim to add high-impact engineers to our team. You will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment systems, including retrofits for highly automated fulfillment centers and cross-dock facilities. You will work with a team of skilled engineers in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment, managing hundreds of projects annually. This role offers challenges, growth, and impactful work. This position requires up to 50% travel and the ability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable distance to the office, with relocation assistance potentially available. Key job responsibilities Coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment network, considering equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property. Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions rapidly. Manage multiple projects and tasks effectively, influencing and negotiating with partners, contractors, and vendors. Communicate effectively with senior executives, presenting technical solutions and business cases. Travel up to 50% globally to engage with business and technical leaders. About The Team The Firm Engineering team owns mechanical design for First Mile retrofits, Middle Mile POR, and Retrofits, and provides electrical, controls, and software support across all building types. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Design, or related field 3+ years in a design-related role Ability to understand and validate design changes Experience with the full system development lifecycle Design-in-Safety experience Experience with complex automated handling equipment, robotics, and high-speed manufacturing systems Effective communication skills and ability to lead consensus Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering, Design, or related field Additional 3+ years in a design role Amazon is an equal opportunity employer.
