Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work on multidisciplinary project teams providing structural engineering and related technical expertise primarily for dam structures, hydropower facilities, and flood control structures such as spillways, decant systems, overflow weirs, culverts, pump/lift stations, and other hydraulic structures. Responsibilities include design and analysis, project management, preparing plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, site inspections, dam safety evaluations, risk analyses, and minor construction observation. The role may require short-term, out-of-town assignments. Opportunities may also include renewable projects like wind turbine foundation design, mining, and industrial processing facilities.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering with a structural emphasis (including structural analysis and steel and concrete design)10 years of related work experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) certificationExperience with AutoCAD or Revit and structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or MathCADStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and completenessInterest in leading and mentoring early career engineersWillingness to travel and adjust personal schedule as neededValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordLegal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipPreferred Qualifications:15+ years of related experienceMaster's degree in civil or structural engineeringExperience in consulting industryExperience with dam safety reviews, audits, inspections, and structural stability analyses of hydraulic structuresFamiliarity with hydrotechnical, mechanical, and electrical aspects of hydropower operationsFamiliarity with hydraulic design of dam appurtenant structuresA hybrid work arrangement may be considered, splitting time between office and home. This position is based in Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota; Ann Arbor, Michigan; or Denver, Colorado pensation:The expected base salary range is $115,000-$130,000/year. The position is exempt under FLSA. Compensation varies based on experience, education, and skills.
