Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.Base pay range$110,000.00/yr - $165,000.00/yrIf you are interested in multiple locations please only apply once, your preference will be discussed during the screening process.As an Experienced Transportation/Civil Engineer, you will lead the evaluation, selection, and design of various transportation system solutions for a range of communities. You will be involved in generating conceptual designs and construction documents, collaborating with staff at all levels while conducting field work, coordinating closely with members of complete streets engineering and planning teams, engaging in discussions with clients and communities, and on-the-job training.Your focus will be to offer innovative and well-thought-out design solutions that align with client objectives and adhere to the latest best practices established by NACTO and similar organizations. Additionally, you will be responsible for project management, overseeing tasks, and assigning technical staff as necessary to deliver projects to clients.We partner with public, private, and institutional clients while embracing and striving to embody the diversity of our market area. For public sector clients, we lead PS&E, corridor studies, master plans, conceptual designs, environmental documents, and everything in between. By joining Fehr & Peers, you can expect to grow your career with support at every stage while maintaining flexibility and work-life balance.ResponsibilitiesLeading and managing design tasks for transportation engineering and planning studiesPreparing conceptual designs that are accurate, feasible, and visually engagingPreparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation engineering projects, including complete streets, bikeways, traffic signal, signing/striping, and lighting projectsDeveloping scopes of work and fees for multi-disciplinary traffic engineering design projectsManaging direct client interaction and communication with members of the public through community engagementMarketing and bringing in new projects by nurturing client relationships, preparing proposals, and presenting in interviewsPerforming field work, such as site review preceding design, and support during constructionMentoring and training your colleagues and receiving mentorship from senior staffQualifications4-10 years of experience in transportation engineeringA bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major (e.g., geography, math, statistics, economics)Currently hold a California professional engineer’s (PE) license in Civil Engineering, or have the ability to obtain through reciprocity within one yearExperience applying Caltrans, MUTCD, and AASHTO design standards on a variety of projectsExperience developing construction documents (final design, PS&E) for traffic engineering projectsDemonstrated understanding of complete streets, including separated bikeways, protected intersections, and roundabout layoutFamiliarity with preparing and reviewing signing, striping, and traffic signal plansFamiliarity with safety countermeasure selection and designFamiliarity with mobility issues and how they affect transportation engineeringFamiliarity with the Safe System approach to safetyExperience leading proposals and nurturing client relationshipsInterest and experience with mentoring and training staffAdditional Desired QualificationsRoad Safety Professional (RSP) certificationTraffic Engineer (TE) certificationPassion for listening to and engaging with diverse communitiesQuick-build project design and implementationActive transportation planning and designRoad safety planning and designBenefit Highlights:Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability Insurance.401(k) Plan with matching and profit sharing.Flexible Spending muter Benefits.Paid Vacation, holidays and sick leave.8 weeks of Paid Parental Leave.Mentoring and Career Development programs.Research and Development group participation, and more.Full information about the benefits we offer can be found by visiting our careers page.EEO: Fehr & Peers is an equal opportunity employer.
