The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical hardware design for medical devices, and will play a key role in all phases of product development, from concept through commercialization, ensuring our devices are robust, reliable, and regulatory compliant. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, be an effective cross-functional collaborator, and have the entrepreneurial drive to make a measurable impact on patient lives and grow with our company.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Design & DevelopmentDesign, develop, and verify analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for IVUS imaging devicesCreate and document circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials (BOM)Develop and execute test plans for hardware validation and verificationSupport rapid prototyping and iterative design improvements for early-stage product developmentCollaboration & IntegrationWork closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and system functionality.Participate in design reviews and provide technical leadership on electrical engineering mattersRegulatory & Quality ComplianceEnsure all hardware designs comply with medical device regulatory standards (e.g., IEC-60601, FDA, CE marking)Develop and maintain documentation in accordance with the company's quality system and design control proceduresSupport risk management activities and ensure electrical safety and EMC complianceManufacturing & SupportSupport the transition of designs from prototype to manufacturing, including DFM/DFT and process optimizationInvestigate and resolve product complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actionsCollaborate with contract manufacturers and external design partners as neededQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field3-5 years of experience in electrical hardware development, with a focus on medical devices (IVUS or intravascular catheters preferred)Strong knowledge of analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout, and electrical design verificationFamiliarity with medical device standards (IEC 60601, ISO 14971, ISO 13485) and quality systemsExperience with EMC/EMI design principles and compliance testingExcellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with IVUS, intravascular catheters, or other imaging modalitiesPrior involvement in the full product lifecycle from concept to commercial releaseExperience with wireless technologies and battery-powered medical systemsExperience with EMC testing and electrical safety certificationFamiliarity with risk management tools (DFMEA, FMEA) and design for manufacturability (DFM)Key AttributesInnovative thinker with strong attention to detail and a commitment to qualityProactive, adaptable, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small team environmentEligibilityCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship. We are currently unable to sponsor H-1B visas.Location & CompensationThis position is onsite in our Santa Clara, CA office and is open to candidates living within a reasonable commute distance. There is no relocation package.T45 Labs is committed to fair and equitable pay practices, and compensation may include bonuses, equity, and benefits as part of the total rewards package.The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000 - $190,000 annually, based on San Francisco Bay Area market data.
