Job Description

OverviewSenior Technical Manager, Geology at WSP in the U.S. located in the Durham, NC office. Provides leadership, guidance, business generation and client development and delivery for Environmental Assessment & Remediation and Due Diligence services. Works with senior and junior staff on complex projects across Commercial/Industrial, Energy, Transportation, and Government sectors. WSP offers a flexible, hybrid working model with preference for Durham, NC based staff and some travel to other locations.ResponsibilitiesConsult for federal, municipal, commercial, and industrial clients on environmental investigation and remediation projects.Collaborate with project managers and staff locally and nationally to support environmental investigation and restoration projects and help grow WSP market share across targeted clients.Plan and execute business growth and improvement strategies.Identify new service opportunities and horizons for expansion.Ensure high quality, effectiveness, and efficiency to achieve client and company goals.Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and Health & Safety culture; manage company funds and resources responsibly.Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Support the Service Line in sales/profit, maintain client focus, meet or exceed budgets, and manage resources with integrity, safety, quality, and operational excellence.Develop and manage proposal efforts; collaborate with project managers, technical specialists, and the marketing team to deliver quality projects.Maintain high-value client relationships and leverage local, regional, and national accounts programs to deliver opportunities.Engage in public outreach, marketing and client communication.Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, with ongoing performance feedback and professional growth support.QualificationsBachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.Professional Geologist (PG) in North Carolina (ability to add other states as needed).15+ years of related experience.Experience with successful proposal writing and development.Project management and business development experience.Knowledge of Federal and State (NC, VA) environmental regulatory programs.Experience across markets including Federal, Industrial, Commercial, Energy, and Transportation.Familiarity with assessment and remediation technologies for various site settings and contaminants (chlorinated solvents, inorganics, emerging contaminants).Experience with feasibility evaluation, remedial design, remedial action, and long-term operation & maintenance of remediation systems.Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.Ability to mentor junior staff and perform technical and quality control reviews.Experience planning, procuring, and executing projects using project management and accounting systems to track metrics.Must pass a drug screen, background check, and have satisfactory driving record per company mitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP safety and harassment policies.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree preferred.Essential professional licensure/certification.40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.Senior / Employment DetailsSeniority level: DirectorEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustries: Professional Services #J-18808-Ljbffr
