We are currently seeking a Research Scientist to be an integral part of the Sensors and Systems team that focuses on inventing and leading the future of image sensor technologies. This role will focus on the technologies needed for on-sensor compute, to develop future generations of smart ultra low power image sensors.Research Scientist, On-Sensor Compute Development (PhD) Responsibilities:Explore ground breaking intelligent vision and sensing technologies for AR/VR systemsImplement machine perception and artificial intelligent algorithms that are suitable for on-sensor integration for low-power, low latency cognitive systemsDevelop sensing and vision processing circuit and hardware, investigate innovative sensor architectures and on-sensor vision processing compute enginesSystem performance and evaluation by modeling, simulation, experimenting, data collection, and tradeoff studyCollaborate with internal and external computer vision scientists, hardware and software architects, perception scientists, and optical experts on cutting edge vision systemsMentor MS/PhD interns and collaborate with external academic groups and companies to advance our research goalsPublish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferencesMinimum Qualifications:Currently has, or in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of VLSI Circuit Design, Computation Architecture, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Vision or a related fieldExperience in one or more of the following fields: Hardware architectures and novel emerging technologies (memories, 3d-integration), Machine Learning Accelerator Design, Sensor Design and Modeling, Machine Learning Algorithms, Neural Networks, Physics based models, or a related fieldExperience with programming languages like C/C++, Python, MATLAB, Torch, etcExperience in 3D computer vision algorithms including Calibration, SLAM, Reconstruction, Mapping, Localization, Tracking and Image ProcessingMust obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employmentCurrently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining MetaPreferred Qualifications:Experience in system modeling across data/image capture, signal processing pipeline, algorithmsExperience with formulating and solving algorithm optimization problemsProven track record of achieving significant results, as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or first-authored publications at leading workshops or conference (e.g., IEEE VLSI Symposium, IEEE ISSCC, IEEE IEDM, JSSC, IEEE TCAS, ICCV, ISCA, Micro, etc.)About Meta:Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
