Assistant Professor - PhysicsFACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTThe Physics Department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a comprehensive college of the City University of New York offering associate and baccalaureate degree programs, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2025.We are the largest public college of technology in New York State and offer curricula that goes beyond traditional classes to create a high-tech, hands-on educational experience for our students and prepare them for a rapidly changing world. The Physics Department has 12 full-time faculty members, engaged in cutting-edge research in high-energy physics, condensed matter physics, astrophysics, laser physics, quantum information, and climate data science. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computational Physics, a Physics Academic Minor and houses a high-performance computing cluster for research and education purposes.Reporting to the chairperson of the Department of Physics, the Assistant Professor will be expected to teach basic and advanced undergraduate physics courses within the Physics program, and to participate in curriculum development, advisement, and other service as needed to benefit the department, college and university. The faculty member will also be expected to support undergraduate and graduate students in research and to pursue creative, scholarly, and professional activities while seeking opportunities for external grant funding. The department seeks a colleague who will work collaboratively with other faculty and staff and contribute positively to the department's climate.QUALIFICATIONSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. degree in Physics or a related discipline is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCandidates with backgrounds in high-energy physics and quantum physics and/or with emphasis on computational research, experience in numerical methods, and machine learning are especially encouraged to apply.Research experience at the postdoctoral level, with an established record of publications and impact appropriate to career stage.Teaching experience and enthusiasm for teaching students from a diverse terest in and potential for teaching computational courses in the Physics PENSATION$75,465 - $93,134.
