The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the education and professional development of future lawyers while advancing the mission of our institution as a leader in legal education.Essential Functions And ResponsibilitiesSupporting Clinical Legal EducationProvide strategic vision and leadership to ensure the continued growth and success of the Law School’s clinical education programOversee all aspects of the clinical education program, including curriculum development, student supervision, and community partnerships in the Law SchoolServe as a clinician in at least one of the Law School’s clinical programs, including teaching clinical courses, providing students with hands-on experience in legal practiceSupervise and mentor clinical students, providing guidance on case work, professional development, and ethical considerations, with a biblical discipleship focusDesign and develop additional clinics to provide additional clinical opportunities for law studentsParticipate in ongoing program evaluation and planningEnsure clinics comply with relevant academic, accreditation, and other regulatory requirementsTeach other courses as assignedEngage in scholarly research and publication in the field of clinical legal education (or related doctrinal discipline), contributing to the academic discourse and advancement of the field.Participate in professional development activities, including conferences, workshops, and continuing legal education programs.Stay current with developments in legal education, clinical pedagogy, and professional standards relevant to clinical practice.Supporting Experiential Legal EducationIn conjunction with the Director of the Center for Lawyering Skills, oversee and administer courses that satisfy experiential learning requirements, such as simulation coursesEnsure experiential learning courses comply with relevant academic, accreditation, and other regulatory requirementsIn conjunction with various stakeholders, work to ensure field placement courses comply with relevant academic, accreditation, and other regulatory requirementsTeach experiential or other courses as assignedQualifications And CredentialsEducation and ExperienceJ.D. Degree from an ABA accredited law schoolActive law license in a U.S. jurisdiction with ability to be licensed in the Commonwealth of VirginiaAt least six (6) years of combined law practice or clinical teaching experienceDemonstrated commitment to teaching and student mentorship and in creating an inspiring, welcoming, and dynamic learning environment for studentsExcellent interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with other Law School faculty and staff and with external partnersWillingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, and objectives of the School of Law and the UniversityTarget Hire Date2026-01-01Time TypeFull timeLocationLynchburg - In OfficeThe University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
