DescriptionSCHEDULE: 40 hours, Sunday – Thursday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., or as neededPays $21.40 per hour DOEThis Position carries a Retention Bonus of $1,000 to be paid out at $250 at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.LOCATION: 34 New Chardon Street, Boston, MA (parking on site)Summary of the Position:The Evening Residential Counselor is responsible for the overall safety of the tenants in the program at the 41 New Chardon Street residence under the Behavioral Health Division of Pine Street Inn. New Chardon is a program that provides permanent housing to formerly homeless women using a Housing First/Stabilization model. The program serves 20 women from diverse backgrounds, circumstances, and age groups. The mission is to provide trauma-informed, gender-sensitive, and gender-specific support services that meet their special needs so they can heal, prepare to reintegrate into the community, and break the cycle of homelessness. The Evening Residential Counselor will assist tenants in obtaining their dinner meal and performing other activities of daily living (ADL) skills. They will also work with other staff to engage tenants in leisure time activities and to create and maintain a respectful atmosphere that empowers very chronic, mentally ill tenants to reach their highest level of functioning. The Evening Residential Counselor will monitor tenants and guests, engaging tenants in supportive conversations around their goals and concerns. The incumbent will conduct regular rounds of the building to ensure that all tenants are safe and that the building is secure. They will also be responsible for managing conflicts between tenants on shift and responding to crises – such as psychiatric, behavioral, operational, etc. emergencies – appropriately. The Evening Residential Counselor will maintain consistent communication with their peers and supervisors. They will ensure that all common areas are tidied before the end of shift, that a detailed shift log is completed before the end of each shift, and that they exchange accurate shift information with the staff relieving them. The incumbent will remain alert and aware on shift at all times. Due to emergency or unforeseen program needs, staff may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to another Pine Street Inn program at any given time.RequirementsEducation/Training:Required:High School diploma or GEDSome basic prior human services trainingPreferred:Advanced training in human services workTraining in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed CareKnowledge/Experience:Required:Minimum of one (1) year of prior work experience working with individuals suffering from complex disabilities in a shelter, community residence, or in an inpatient settingExperience maintaining a safe environment for clients in a program settingExperience as a human services team memberFamiliarity with the concepts of rehabilitation and consumer empowermentExperience working with dually diagnosed individualsExperience assisting people with ADL skillsEffective writing and verbal communication skillsPreferred:Previous experience working with a Housing First/Stabilization modelExperience working with the homeless population #J-18808-Ljbffr
