In North America, Jollibee Foods Corporation (USA) ("JFCUSA") is integral to The Jollibee Group’s operation and expansion.OverviewThe Sr. Corporate Counsel will report to the General Counsel ("GC") for JFCUSA and provide legal advice and services in support of the operations of JFCUSA and its affiliated entities. The role includes preparation, review, and negotiation of documents for complex transactions and day-to-day matters, as well as assisting in protecting JFCUSA’s legal and ethical interests and maintaining operations within applicable law.Job SummaryProvide hands-on counsel to all levels of staff, identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations to GC and management, and assure legal compliance. Provide advice across several legal specializations (including procurement, employment, litigation, marketing, etc.) with a focus on franchising—e.g., franchise disclosure documents, development agreements, franchise agreements, and vendor contracts supporting the franchise community and franchisor field operations.The role requires a generalist background with knowledge across multiple legal disciplines and demonstrated franchising experience. The successful candidate will coordinate with in-house counsel and staff and may communicate with outside counsel. JFCUSA’s environment is fast-paced, high-performance, and unstructured; there is no single typical day.The position may require travel in the United States and internationally.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the negotiation, drafting, and execution of JFCUSA’s agreements, including manufacturing, distribution, supply, service, financing, and purchase and sale agreements, as well as franchise disclosure documents and franchise agreements.Manage litigation, including monitoring claims against or on behalf of JFCUSA, developing litigation strategies, and negotiating settlements where warranted. This includes enforcement of franchisee terminations, contract obligations, and protection of intellectual property rights.Advise on franchise marketing materials, default notices, franchisee committees, and all aspects of the franchisor/franchisee relationship.Provide day-to-day legal counsel and training to multiple levels of staff within JFCUSA.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong critical thinker and problem solver with a positive attitude.Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing schedules.Ability to multi-task and juggle many projects at once.Extremely responsive with a practical, hands-on approach.Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem solving.Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization, from executives to store-level anized, reliable, and a team player with a will to win.Education and ExperienceAt least 5+ years of legal experience.Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school.Licensed in Colorado or California, or eligible to register as in-house counsel in Colorado or California.Experience as an attorney in a law firm and/or in-house counsel for a franchisor or franchisee; generalist with franchise experience.Ideal candidate has strong law firm training followed by an in-house role.Additional InformationThis position will be located in Denver, Colorado (preferred) or West Covina, California and requires a minimum of 3 days per week in office.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment.
