OverviewNorthrop Grumman is seeking an experienced, highly motivated attorney to serve as Corporate Counsel II, Employee Benefits. The role provides legal support across a broad array of employee benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans (401(k) and pension), health and welfare plans, executive (non-qualified) plans, and plan assets (trust operations and investments). The position reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits.ResponsibilitiesSupport the company’s functional and operational leadership on legal matters related to employee benefits, collaborating with human resources, finance, strategy, benefits administration, and plan investment operations.Provide strategic guidance to ensure compliance with employee benefits laws and regulations, and create solutions to mitigate legal risk.Collaborate with lawyers across the Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits team and the broader Law Department on complex business matters.Basic QualificationsJuris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law schoolActive state bar membership and capability to register as in-house counsel in Virginia, as applicable10+ years of employee benefits law experience at a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency involved in benefit plans regulationExperience counseling clients on employee benefits laws, including ERISA, IRC 409A, HIPAA, and the Affordable Care ActPreferred QualificationsExperience in the employee benefits law function of a large and complex multinational corporationExperience with U.S. government contractor aspects of employee benefitsStrong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple prioritiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levelsCommitment to teamwork, inclusion, innovation, and sound judgmentSalary and BenefitsPrimary Level Salary Range: $227,700.00 - $327,300.00. Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Long Term Incentives may be available for Vice President or Director positions.
