Our Global Legal Team is a key enabler of our firm’s success, helping to drive impact and progress across a number of important dimensions.As a Legal team member, you will work across BCG teams and functions to support our business growth strategy, provide counsel and expertise, drive legal innovation, and leverage the power of new ways of working in our journey to become an industry best team.What You’ll DoLegal Counsel – Commercial Contracting is expected to be a seasoned and skilled lawyer, able to independently address the full range of global legal issues facing BCG and with a particular expertise in all aspects of commercial contracting. Among other things, you will:Be a fully integrated member of BCG’s Global Legal Team, with a primary focus on commercial matters, commercial risk identification, and internal process improvement, particularly for BCG’s operations in BCG’s North America (Canada, United States, and Mexico) region.Serve as champion of BCG contracting and risk management standards.Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of commercial agreements, including global master services agreements, other client and vendor agreements, licensing agreements, nondisclosure agreements, subcontractor agreements.Be experienced in quickly and independently redlining and custom-drafting legal documents.Implement and help to develop and champion BCG contracting and other policies and processes and assist in seeking approvals on deviations of contract or other policies.Provide general counseling and management of a full spectrum of business and legal issues, which, in addition to licensing and intellectual property matters, may include transaction structuring and support, data protection, competition law and trade regulations, and conflict of interest.Identify risks and issues; suggest alternative solutions.Team successfully across BCG and integrate fully into BCG’s Global Legal Team to resolve or support resolution of complex legal issues.Act as bridge and point of contact between functions and business for resolving legal issues.Contribute to developing and maintaining Legal Team know-how and templates, technology solutions, and other key enablers.Perform other duties as assigned or required.BCG's Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to efficiently deliver high quality work, and will have substantial experience effectively advising on and negotiating commercial agreements by deploying a practical balance between business and legal objectives.What You'll BringExcellent written and oral communication and listening skills.An important part of the position is a responsive and pragmatic approach to responding to ad hoc requests from the business and demonstrating adaptability, agility and resilience when business priorities change.Superior analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability, approaching problems in a structured way, with an appreciation for striking a practical balance between business and legal objectives.Talent for absorbing new skill sets and expertise quickly and comfortably, adopting a growth mindset to work in complex legal environments with a diverse international set of clients and stakeholders.Being a collaborative team player who partners effectively across diverse teams and networks.Technologies, new ways of working and more effective processes adopter.The ability to quickly comprehend and interpret complex sets of laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG’s global policies.A positive, dynamic attitude and client-focused approach to legal practice, with strong personal and professional self-confidence.Delivering high-quality outputs in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, client-oriented environment.Conducting rigorous, logical, and accurate analysis to draw out innovative insights.Effectively framing and addressing complex challenges with a clear articulation of impacts and potential benefits to make informed fluencing stakeholders to mitigate risk and drive business success.Anticipating obstacles and preparing mitigation strategies.Building and maintaining strong relationships within a loosely structured organization.Who You'll Work WithGraduate degree (J.D.) in Law from an accredited law school and admitted to practice.5+ years of commercial contracting experience with international exposure.2+ years with a reputable law firm preferable; prior relevant in-house experience preferred.English fluency; other languages a plus.Additional infoBCG’s Global Legal Function is a critical element in the firm’s management infrastructure.
