Join to apply for the Assistant General Counsel, Part Time role at Community College of Baltimore County The Community College of Baltimore County seeks a dynamic candidate for the Part-Time Assistant General Counsel role in the Office of General Counsel. The Office of General Counsel provides legal representation, advice, and counsel in various areas of law affecting the College. This position will focus primarily on contracts, labor and employment, litigation, student affairs, civil rights, constitutional law, public records, policy development, privacy, intellectual property, conflict of interest, ethics, insurance, risk management, and compliance. The position reports directly to the General Counsel. Minimum Requirements Juris doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school. Member of Maryland bar in good standing, or eligible for admission to Maryland bar. At least five (5) years of substantial and responsible experience as an attorney in higher education, government, or law firm, with relevant experience related to the duties described. Essential Duties Provide legal advice on human resources matters, including hiring, disability, leave, discipline, investigations, wage and hour, and workers' compensation. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Advise on student affairs, including athletics, behavioral intervention, FERPA, financial aid, conduct, and Title IX. Advise on Maryland Open Meetings Act and public meetings. Represent the College in administrative matters before regulatory agencies. Assist outside counsel and the Baltimore County Office of Law in litigation. Manage public information requests, subpoenas, and records retention. Help develop and implement College policies and procedures. Draft legal documents, including agreements and memoranda. Collaborate with colleagues and manage outside counsel as needed. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations; provide training as necessary. Benefits Retirement plans including 403(b) and 457(b). Free parking with permit.
