Job DescriptionPEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES FOUNDATION (PWDF) is a small nonprofit agency in San Francisco dedicated to ensuring equal access for individuals with mental and/or developmental disabilities. Applicants should review our website to understand our scope of work and tailor their cover letter pensation: $90,000 to $105,000 annually for full-time (35 hours/week), DOE. Part-time (80%) considered; specify interest in cover letter. Salary prorated accordingly. Benefits include health and dental insurance, vacation, commuter checks, etc., after 90 days. 6-month probation. Position is on-site.Duties: The Managing Attorney (MA) reports to the Legal Director (LD) and is responsible for supervising staff attorneys and program managers, overseeing disability rights issues (including federal court representation, social security/SSI, employment, education, healthcare, housing), managing legal aspects of seminars and publications, staying updated on relevant law and psychiatry, preparing advocacy reports, representing PWDF, coordinating with partner organizations, attending liaison meetings, and monitoring income and expenses.Qualifications: Results-oriented, highly organized, capable of working with diverse communities, reliable, flexible, and deadline-driven. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong commitment to advocacy for people with mental and/or developmental disabilities.Additional helpful qualifications: Licensed California attorney with at least 10 years relevant experience (civil rights, nonprofit, federal litigation). Excellent communication and writing skills. Management experience. Experience in Social Security/SSI, employment, healthcare, housing, Medicare, Medi-Cal, or post-secondary education is preferred but not required.Responsibilities: Leading program management and support, fiscal and administrative management, human resources, and other duties as needed. Maintain awareness of mental health and disability issues through current research and reports.This is a nonprofit position. Principals only. No recruiters.
