As Prolaio’s first legal hire, this role reports to the General Counsel at Kardigan and is a member of the Prolaio leadership team. You will serve as the legal business partner to the organization and as the head of the legal function, supporting the company’s long-term business objectives. This is a unique opportunity to lead the corporate law group at a digital health company and be an integral member of the larger legal group at Kardigan.This role will report directly to Kardigan’s General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and work closely with the Prolaio Leadership Team.The SpecificsFoster a collaborative and innovative environment by partnering with key stakeholders to provide legal support for the company’s mission and strategic initiatives.Leverage deep experience in the digital health/SaMD industry to help navigate legal and regulatory environments.Manage the legal contracts function, including negotiation and drafting of agreements such as vendor agreements, collaboration agreements, joint ventures, software licensing, and partnership agreements.Ensure alignment with business objectives while managing legal and financial risks.Partner with internal teams including Finance, Tax, HR, and Business Development, and work with external counsel as needed to support legal matters and ensure compliance.Coordinate legal and compliance guidance with the Kardigan legal team.Partner with the Kardigan IP group on IP matters.Experience and EducationJD required, with a minimum of 15+ years of experience in corporate cluding 7+ years of prior in-house experience in the digital health or medical device industry.Member of a state bar in good standing.Deep understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing digital health/medical device companies.Strong working knowledge of digital health, biomarker qualification, clinical decision support, and SaMD.Knowledge of DTC and DTP commercial approaches is preferred.Proven track record in negotiating, drafting, managing contracts, navigating healthcare compliance, and privacy matters in the digital health or medical device industry.Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior leadership.A multi-dimensional thinker who incorporates new approaches and developments in the marketplace.Ability to balance legal and business considerations, offering practical solutions.Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.Excellent organizational skills and effective communication across all levels of the organization.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a results-focused mindset.Supportive of a “patient-first” mentality.Sense of urgency.Why This Is a Great Opportunity!Kardigan launched in January 2025 following a Series A raise of $300M from Perceptive Advisors, ARCH Venture Partners, and Sequoia Heritage.Actively engaged in early and late-phase clinical trials.Recent acquisition of Prolaio, a clinical intelligence company, enhances our ability to accelerate therapeutic research and development.This role is Kardigan’s first IP hire, with potential future responsibilities for building and leading an IP team.Application ProcessInterested candidates should submit a resume to:Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.Create a Job AlertInterested in building your career at Prolaio?
