Apply via Dice today!MUST HAVES: Ability to go onsite in San Franciso, CA 5 days/week, W-2 only (No H1's).Rate: $76/hr W-2Duration: 6 monthsSummary: Seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Network Engineer Consultant to support and maintain critical internal systems and networks during a transitional period. Based in our San Francisco office, this consultant will work directly with our IT Infrastructure team to deliver immediate value across our global offices.We are seeking a hands-on technologist who can independently triage issues, maintain operational stability, and ensure a seamless turnover of knowledge to future full-time staff.What You’ll AchieveHit the ground running in an active production environment, independently troubleshooting and resolving incidents.Manage, monitor, and maintain corporate IT infrastructure including networking, systems, and out-of-band management.Perform day-to-day administration tasks across on-prem systems including server hardware, virtualization, storage, authentication systems, and network services.Manage firewall policies, VPN configurations, switch deployments, and OOB access devices with minimal supervision.Maintain accurate documentation of changes, discoveries, and workflows to support clean handoff to permanent hires.Proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and escalate appropriately when needed.Support office infrastructure expansion projects and collaborate across IT pillars as required.Follow operational best practices for change control, incident response, and uptime risk management.About YouRequired Technical ExpertiseMinimum 7 years of experienceStrong hands-on experience with Juniper SRX and MX platforms (Junos CLI, security policies, NAT, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, MC-LAG, redundancy setups).Capable Aruba CX switching administration (VSF/VSX, VLANs, ACLs, spanning-tree tuning) and Aruba ClearPass management (802.1x authentication, SCEP, device profiling, RADITACACS integration).Proficient with Opengear appliances for Smart Out-of-Band, cellular failover, reverse SSH tunnels.Experience working with systems monitoring and alerting platforms (Syslog, SNMP, Nagios, LibreNMS, Splunk, etc.).Solid networking fundamentals: Subnetting, VRFs, ACLs, LACP, STP, QoS, GRE/IPsec tunnels, site-to-site VPNs, and remote access VPNs.Hands-on experience administering Linux and Windows servers in an infrastructure environment.Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and infrastructure automation practices.Soft Skills & Working StyleSelf-starter with a consultative, ownership-driven mindset. Strong troubleshooting instincts — asks smart questions to clarify rather than escalate unnecessarily.Clear and concise communicator, both verbally and in writing.Disciplined approach to operational risk management: follows change processes, logs changes, maintains auditability.Documentation-focused: creates change records, diagrams, quick-reference guides where needed. Business-aware: understands uptime requirements and production environment sensitivities.Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)Scripting abilities (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for workflow automation.Familiarity with AWS cloud networking concepts (VPCs, VPNs, Transit Gateways).Knowledge of enterprise authentication and SSO platforms (Okta, SAML, PKI infrastructures).The estimated pay range for this position is USD $70.00/Hr - USD $76.00/Hr.
