Worker Type Regular Job Description Summary The Director, Compensation plays a strategic role in supporting the design, implementation, and administration of our global compensation programs. This position is crucial in administering the AV total rewards strategy, ensuring programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with business objectives. The role acts as a trusted advisor to the VP, Total Rewards, driving compensation strategy and overseeing all aspects of base pay, variable incentives, equity programs, and retention awards. Position Responsibilities Develop, refine, and execute compensation strategies aligned with the company’s objectives. Support the design, implementation, and administration of salary structures, incentive plans, equity, and recognition awards. Oversee annual and mid-year compensation planning, merit increases, promotions, and bonuses. Conduct market analyses to ensure competitiveness and industry alignment. Partner with Benefits, Talent Development, and HR Operations to enhance the Total Rewards experience. Ensure strategies are integrated with performance management, talent acquisition, and career development. Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and international regulations. Maintain governance over job architecture, pay equity, and policy adherence. Streamline processes for scalability and efficiency. Leverage data and analytics for decision-making and reporting. Lead compensation initiatives for M&A and post-merger integration. Develop communication strategies to explain programs to employees. Prepare executive presentations and dashboards for leadership decisions. Coach HR partners and leaders on compensation best practices. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field. Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred. 12+ years in compensation leadership, preferably in tech, government contracting, or high-growth sectors. 5+ years of people management experience. Proven success in developing compensation strategies, including incentive plans for technical roles. Expertise in base pay, variable pay, and equity programs. Experience managing equity programs and M&A compensation strategies. Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex data effectively. Knowledge of California employment laws and U.S. compensation regulations. Other Qualifications & Competencies Experience with global compensation and government contracts (FAR regulations). Familiarity with tools like Workday, Radford, Mercer, etc. Certifications like CCP are a plus. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and build trust. Leadership qualities to inspire and motivate teams. Adaptability and ownership mindset. Physical Demands Sitting, standing, reaching, lifting up to 10 lbs., and using a computer. Travel may be required. Environmental Conditions Office environment with climate control. Potential exposure to outdoor environments during travel. Special Requirements U.S. Citizen, Green Card holder, or refugee/asylee status as per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). Ability to travel domestically and internationally. The salary range for this role is: $165,580 - $234,465 We consider various factors when extending an offer, including location, experience, education, and skills. ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to ITAR/EAR regulated information. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under these regulations or obtain necessary export licenses.
