OverviewRobert Half is seeking an IT Director Consultant to lead strategic and technical initiatives for a growing organization in Boise, Idaho. This contract opportunity is 4-6 months with possible extension and is onsite in Boise, ID. Work schedule: 8 - 5 pm (Flexible).ResponsibilitiesAbout 60% strategic and 40% technical responsibilitiesInitial focus will be on rebuilding IT's reputation within the company and the following projectsDevelop, implement, and test a Disaster Recovery, Backup, and Business Continuity Plan - including evaluation and migration to a more effective backup solutionNew server acquisition, implementation, testing, and migration to improve high availability, failover, and replication capabilitiesMigration of one server from VMware to Hyper-VDeployment of an IT Asset Management system to ensure consistency, accountability, and ongoing accuracyRedesign and realignment of Active Directory (AD) policies, ensuring strategic alignment with Intune policiesBitLocker encryption deployment across applicable devicesImplementation of Conditional Access VPN to enhance secure remote accessCIS Hardening of systems to ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practicesRequirementsLeadership & Management CompetenciesStrategic Vision - ability to align IT operations and projects with business objectivesProcess Discipline - emphasis on documenting procedures, building repeatable processes, and driving cross-training to ensure bench strengthDecision-Making & Prioritization - demonstrated ability to weigh tradeoffs, manage competing demands, and execute timely, well-informed decisionsCommunication - intentional, proactive, and clear communication across all levels of the organizationSupervisory Skills - proven experience in managing staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring accountabilityEmployee Development - focus on mentoring, performance management, and fostering a collaborative IT cultureTechnical Skill SetServer Administration - managing, maintaining, and optimizing Windows-based serversSystem Architecture - designing scalable, secure, and resilient IT infrastructureActive Directory (AD) & Identity Management - administration, security policies, and integrationsVirtualization - VMware/Hyper-V or equivalent, including performance optimizationMicrosoft 365 Tenant Management - administration of Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and licensingScripting & Automation - PowerShell or equivalent for efficiency and process improvementsIT Project Leadership - experience planning, leading, and executing technical implementationsDisaster Recovery & Business Continuity - proven capability to create, implement, and validate a comprehensive disaster recovery plan that ensures resilience and continuity of operationsAll applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
