About our group:Seagate's Legal Team is represented by a group of smart, dynamic, motivated, diverse and collaborative professionals situated in our offices around the globe. We are a cross-functional team with expertise in a variety of legal specialties to assist the business as it navigates the complex legal and operating environment worldwide.We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our IP, Data Governance and Litigation Group. This role offers the opportunity to engage with complex legal challenges that demand innovative, rapid, and strategic counsel.The ideal candidate you will bring extensive experience representing technology companies with a robust foundation in Intellectual Property, Open-Source, Technology Transactions, and Litigation.About the role - you will:Assist in day-to-day projects related to IP management and strategy, IP litigation, technology licensing, and IP defenseEvaluate risks and provide proactive legal counsel to business partners and the legal team to support innovation, mitigate potential risks, drive business goals, and foster complianceCollaborate with a cross-functional team of legal professionals, paralegals, and external advisors to deliver comprehensive legal servicesUnderstand Seagate's business and have a willingness to dive into the technology and toolsAbout you:Creative thinker, with demonstrated expertise in developing innovative legal strategies, challenging conventional practices, fostering collaboration, and delivering impactful resultsExceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to address executive leadership confidently, even on short noticeProficiency in managing external legal resources, including law firms, expert witnesses, and consultants, to optimize outcomesHighly organized, resilient professional capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment while autonomously managing multiple projects without compromising quality or integrityAbility to operate within a budget and work creatively to manage costs and maximize efficiencyCommitment to embodying Seagate's core values of Integrity, Inclusion, and InnovationYour experience includes:Intellectual property strategy and management, freedom to operate analysis, technical interviews, patentability opinions, and infringement analysisDrafting, negotiating, and managing various types of technology transactions, including technology licenses, software licenses, patent licenses, joint development agreements, and other types of similar transactionsDeveloping and managing trademark and trade secret strategy, ideally with some experience in addressing counterfeiting issuesImplementing and working with AI toolsActive bar membership, with a preference for licensure in Colorado or Minnesota.Active US Patent Bar membership (USPTO)Juris Doctorate from an accredited law schooland an undergraduate degree in engineering, or undergraduate degree in hard sciences (chem/math/physics) and advanced degree in engineeringMinimum of 8+yearsin legal practice with a blend of premier law firm and in-house legal department experienceYou might also have:Patent prosecution experienceCopyright and open-source experienceSalary: The estimated base salary range for this position is $146,800.00 - $210,000.00.
