Job Description

Essential FunctionsSupports children with patience, compassion, and a trauma-informed lens; ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all children which may include, feeding, learning, transitions, play, and other age-appropriate activitiesAbility to work with children with various developmental, cognitive, or behavioral needs. Evaluates children’s development, working closely with Program leadership and in-house Therapist to address children’s needs and recommend therapeutic supportsProvides age-appropriate class and behavior management, prevents and manages behavior/ emotional crises, and creates a positive learning environmentCompletes monthly assessments on individual childrenAssists in supervision, support, and daily direction of interns and volunteers in the classroomSupports parents as they are the first teachers in their children’s lives, integratingliteracy activities between parent and child; providing family workshops on literacy and reading development, facilitating fun literacy-related events, and working closely with the Education Coordinator in preparing children for school successPrepares curriculum for adults, and modifies instructional approaches to respond to various cultures within the program. Provides outside resources and referrals to families to support their children in their language, when not able at the centerModels reading to children and guide parents to read to their children. Facilitate incentives to enhance family literacyCommunicates professionally and with CREED with all families about their children’s progress, addresses challenges with care, and deescalate potentially difficult situations with parentsMaintains attendance, facilitates meals and snacksParticipates in staff meetings and program reviews; collaborates in TC-wide eventsMeets regularly with Manager regarding program success and challengesEnsures program and agency policies and proceduresEnsures accurate and timely documentation in the CSTAR and other databases, including updating service and case notes; updates goals in ADP bi-monthly throughout the yearQualificationsAssociate Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field, or equivalent experience (2 years) working with children and families; plus 12 units in child development, including Infant and Toddler, plus 1 year of experience teaching in a childcare setting,Minimum 1-year experience working with families and facilitating family literacy/child development activitiesFirst Aid & CPR-Pediatric certificateBasic user of MS OfficeAbility to pass fingerprinting and background check upon employmentBe at least 21 years of age, have a valid in-state driver’s license, provide current registration and insurance, and have a driving record with no more than 2 points within the last 3 years Annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary #J-18808-Ljbffr
