This experienced Senior Human Resources Partner oversees and delivers high quality HR services to approximately 210 front line and administrative Transit employees. The ideal candidate has balanced experience in all of the functional areas of HR practice and can work with limited direction. The position, while part of a larger 8 person HR Team, is imbedded in the Chapel Hill Transit Department and supervises one full-time HR Assistant whose time is fully allocated to Transit HR needs. The larger HR team includes experienced benefits, training, recruitment/retention, and employee relations professionals who serve as subject matter experts in these areas and help with service delivery. Supervision:This position reports to the Director of Human Resource Development and the Deputy Transit Director and serves as a Strategic Business Partner. Work Schedule:Monday-Friday with core hours as agreed on by department. May require an occasional early start/late stay or Saturday work. Remote work options available 1-2 days per week after a 6-month on-site training period.The ideal candidate has5+ years of progressively responsible balanced HR experience in a fast-paced environmentA strong background in employee relations and overseeing complex disciplinary processesInnovative experience in recruitment, selection, and retention strategies for a wide range of front line and professional positions, including recruitment outreach.An interest in developing strong relationships with front line and professional staff.A customer service approach to delivering HR services.A demonstrated ability to bring strategic thinking to how HR innovation contributes to operational efficiencies, high employee morale, and the effective use of department resources to meet business needs. The ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and professional colleagues at Transit, in HR and other departments. Is well organized, has a sense of urgency, and can keep important workflows on track for timely resolution.Strong writing skills. SHRM or PSHRA certification preferred. A bachelor's degree in human resource management, Business Administration, or other relevant degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervision ExercisedPosition supervises one HR Assistant.Physical DemandsThe work requires sitting at a desk or table, with intermittent standing or stooping.
