OverviewScooper – Newport Beach (Salary: $16.50 + average tips $9.21)Join Salt & Straw as a Scooper in Newport Beach. We offer a welcoming environment and opportunities to engage guests with flavorful stories and a standout guest experience.ResponsibilitiesInteract with guests throughout their visit with patience, positivity, and enthusiasm, from arrival to checkout, ensuring a memorable experience.Understand Salt & Straw’s brand, production techniques, ingredient partnerships, and seasonal/classic flavors; educate guests and provide recommendations.Scoop the correct portions according to shop standards, often in shift intervals of 1–2 hours.Process transactions using the POS system, handle cash, and provide accurate change.Prepare, label, and store waffle batter; operate the waffle iron to make cones; maintain a clean front-of-house waffle station.Adhere to shop, food quality, and safety standards; perform cleaning and organization tasks (floors, walls, bathrooms, freezers) and restock as needed.Replenish retail products, restock freezers, paper goods, waffle batter, cones, and other supplies.Temper and consolidate ice cream, restock from the walk-in freezer, and ensure quality during packaging.Pack Third-Party Delivery orders following company standards and labeling requirements.Answer phones and provide excellent information about products and services.Greet guests, guide line flow, explain experience options, and promote online ordering and pint purchases.Taste/sample a scoop daily to better communicate flavor highlights to customers.QualificationsValid food handler's card required within 30 days of hire or per local regulations.Experience in food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to learn and discuss classic and seasonal flavors; give samples confidently.Excellent communication and hospitality skills; ability to build positive guest, team, and vendor relationships.Passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences.Ability to work with diverse individuals; team-oriented; adapt under pressure; fast-paced environment.Fluency in English; ability to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum of 3 shifts per week including 2 closing shifts.Benefits & PerksFinancial Flexibility: Optional earned wages access; 401(k) match with 50% company match up to 1% after three months (part-time eligible).Health & Wellness: Medical, dental, and vision may become available after meeting hours requirements; FSA/HSA and supplemental coverage options.Mental Health Support: Free 24/7 access to licensed professionals for team members and families.Work-Life Balance: Flexible scheduling; sick time; paid parental leave; paid voting time.Education & Growth: Up to $1,800/year in Educational Assistance; career development opportunities.Perks & Discounts: 30% team member discount; early flavor access; commuter benefits; wellness rewards; pet clusive Culture: A welcoming, respectful workplace for all team members.Food Allergy WarningThis position involves working in an environment with common allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, seafood).
