Overview Join to apply for the Director of Information Systems role at San Francisco Opera. As a member of the Opera’s Management Team, this position is responsible for all Company-wide information systems including designing, implementing, and managing network infrastructure and systems, with a strong focus on cloud platforms and cyber security. This person will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the network, server, and cloud environments while collaborating closely with the Leadership Team to support the Opera’s technological needs including business applications, helpdesk operations, network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and directing day-to-day information systems operations effectively and efficiently. Responsibilities Develop and oversee a strategic comprehensive information systems plan reflecting the organization’s mission, values, and strategic business plans. Maintain awareness of developments in information technology and cyber security; direct the acquisition and implementation of new equipment and new software to meet business needs. Develop and recommend a fiscally sound department budget based on department goals and organizational needs. Monitor and manage departmental spending, seek opportunities to reduce or eliminate unnecessary expenditures and find cost-effective ways to do business. Develop and present project roadmap and associated capital and operating budgets to management and Board committees. Develop departmental and organizational policies and procedures and data security standards. Establish and oversee daily operations of all business systems and regularly evaluate and monitor systems applications for effectiveness and future viability. Direct the overall maintenance and use of all information technology systems, including network equipment, servers, telecommunications equipment, PCs, and peripherals. Direct all technical and change management efforts leading to the implementation of software applications and hardware implementations. Organize and provide technical and change management direction and support to major information technology projects across all phases of implementation, including business case development, process mapping, execution, and ongoing support for successful usage. Develop and manage an information systems disaster recovery and business continuity plan, including backup protection and ensuring recoverability of critical data and systems. Manage projects across the department and report status to management. Consistently and successfully manage relationships with third party vendors. Qualifications and prerequisites Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field from an accredited college or university highly desired. Minimum seven years of progressive professional experience managing an information systems environment including desktop support, helpdesk and network operations, software application management, and cyber threat prevention and mitigation. Experience leading a team in a budget-conscious environment. Experience establishing and enforcing information security and technology governance practices, processes, and controls. Experience managing a heterogeneous architecture with Azure cloud services and multiple physical sites. Strong IS generalist skills: desktop support, helpdesk operations, network management and cybersecurity. Experience with Windows environment and Microsoft 365, Defender, Azure. Experience with security awareness training and testing (e.g., KnowBe4). Ability to direct and collaborate with Managed Services vendor; prioritize needs of a complex organization. Track record in leading strategic initiatives and delivering business results; strong program and project management skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities; leadership, management, and people skills; ability to mentor a small team of IS professionals. Ability to work collaboratively across multi-functional teams in a fast-paced environment; professional, confidential, and tactful interactions with staff. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally. Must perform position functions safely.
