OverviewA leading petroleum distribution company is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee accounting operations and provide strategic financial leadership during a period of rapid global expansion. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, international accounting standards, and fuel distribution accounting practices.Working cross-functionally, the new leader will ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance by strengthening internal controls, optimizing systems, and providing strategic insights to support growth initiatives while guiding teams through organizational change.ResponsibilitiesLead the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Prepare consolidated financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and reporting requirements, including emerging international standards.Coordinate and manage annual audits with external auditors.Direct all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and billing.Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Develop and implement accounting procedures and systems to support company growth and operational efficiency.Partner with the CEO to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and business development.Evaluate and improve accounting processes to ensure GAAP compliance and strengthen internal controls.Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.Analyze financial results and provide actionable recommendations to management.Support the development and implementation of international accounting operations as the company expands.Manage international tax planning and compliance, including transfer pricing and VAT.Develop strategies to mitigate currency exchange rate risks and manage foreign currency exposures.Identify and mitigate financial risks, including credit, operational, and compliance risks.Ensure proper safeguarding of company assets.Establish and maintain strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership rolePrior experience in the fuel/gas distribution industry strongly preferredDeep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls requiredStrong understanding of fuel accounting principles and systemsExperience with NetSuite strongly preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to lead teams and manage change in a growing organizationCompensation and Benefits$120,000-$150,000401KDetailsLocation: Beverly Hills, CAType of Position: Direct HireDue to the high volume of applications we typically receive, we regret that we are not able to personally respond to all applications.
