OverviewKyowa Kirin is a fast-growing global specialty pharmaceutical company focused on biotechnologies across four disease areas. The role of Senior Director, Patient Advocacy, Engagement, and Policy is part of the NA Government Affairs organization and leads the development of a patient-centric operating model across Kyowa Kirin North America disease franchises. The Senior Director will define KKNA’s advocacy vision and strategy to engage patient communities across product life cycles, addressing commercial and global drug development activities, and will partner with R&D and global leaders to advance Kyowa Kirin’s patient engagement model from product development through post-approval and beyond.The role emphasizes collaboration with global development, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs teams to align patient engagement activities and to influence patient needs through policy and regulatory landscapes. ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, coach and train team membersBe hands-on in high-impact work while also providing team leadershipLead a global, cross-functional team in creating and implementing tools and training to support greater patient engagement in the development processLead and manage patient and disease state advocacy efforts across franchise areasIdentify strategic partners and opportunities for long-term collaborations to address patient needsEvaluate policy and regulatory landscape to influence on behalf of patient needsOrganize advisory boards and market research to identify patient needs and preferences; use insights to enhance clinical trial design, data generation, regulatory input, and market developmentAlign with Global Development leaders, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs on patient engagement activitiesManage/oversee patient advocacy components of annual corporate and brand planningSupervise and/or act as project manager on assigned projects; coordinate with vendors and teammates to manage budgets and executionEngage with alliance/JV partners and cross-functional colleagues to fulfill objectivesProvide ongoing internal updates to leadership and stakeholders QualificationsEducationBA/BS required. LPN, MPH or MBA a plusExperienceAt least 10 years in advocacy, policy, or market development roles. Prior experience developing and managing Patient Advocacy collaborations. Knowledge of public policy and regulatory landscape. Understanding of pharmaceutical development, life sciences, and regulatory environments. Strategic thinker with planning, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with global, cross-functional stakeholders and advocacy organizations. Ability to drive projects from concept to execution autonomously; organized, analytical, and able to coordinate contributions for on-time, on-budget outcomes. Prior pharmaceutical or biotech experience or direct work for an advocacy organization is a plus.Technical SkillsProficient in MS Office Suite.Non-Technical SkillsAbility to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, make decisions, and adapt quickly. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong work ethic, detail-oriented with follow-through. Ability to operate in a dynamic, high-growth environment with cultural sensitivity and consensus-building in a multinational organization. Compensation and BenefitsThe anticipated salary for this position will be $219,500 to $286,600. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors including experience, skill set, qualifications, education, location, and business needs.The listed salary is part of a broader compensation package.
