Environmental Litigation & Mass Tort Associate | Washington, DC Our AmLaw 100 client is growing its DC environmental and mass tort bench. This group handles high-visibility federal matters, partner-led teams, and steady client contact. The work is technical, fast-moving, and strategic. Role Summary Litigate environmental and related mass tort matters in federal forums Support and lead on investigations, enforcement, and defense strategy Analyze dense regulatory schemes and agency guidance; translate findings into case strategy and client-ready work product Draft motions, briefs, and agency submissions; manage discovery and experts Interact directly with clients and cross-office teams from day one Candidate Profile JD class years 2018–2022 Experience in federal environmental litigation; civil enforcement background preferred Government-side enforcement experience or familiarity with DOJ/agency enforcement approaches Strong grasp of environmental and administrative law concepts Exceptional research and writing; disciplined project ownership with minimal supervision Why This Role Platform: National AmLaw 100 firm with a recognized environmental dispute practice and a steady pipeline of federal matters Training & Access: Hands-on work with partners who try cases and resolve agency actions; meaningful client exposure early Scope: Mix of enforcement, complex litigation, and technical regulatory issues that sharpen trial and counseling skills Trajectory: Clear path to take ownership of files and develop niche expertise within a high-demand practice area Compensation & Benefits Annual base range: $260,000 to $420,000, plus discretionary performance bonus Comprehensive benefits: medical, retirement, paid time off (including sick and vacation), parental leave, basic life, and FSAs Location: Washington, DC Confidential Inquiry Your background will not be shared without your permission.
