Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer (Level 6) to lead a new satellite program in our Phantom Works Innovative Solutions Division located in El Segundo, CA. Our multifaceted team of engineers focus on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-enabling capabilities beginning with technology investment and concept development, which lead to the design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.This program Chief Engineer will provide leadership to our high performing team of electrical, mechanical, systems, software and manufacturing engineers. The ideal candidate will provide oversight and approval on technical approaches, requirements, capabilities, functional flows, CONOPS, products, and processes.Position ResponsibilitiesLead the design decisions resulting in best value to the customer by trading cost, schedule, and performanceManage development by tracking program execution tasks and measuring successful executionProvide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processesEffectively communicate program progress, risks, opportunities, and trade resultsDevelop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goalsDevelop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports as well as provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processesProposal management and development and must have a strong understanding of the Government System Acquisition ProcessLead efforts to define and execute implementation plans, as well as negotiate and build consensus across a diverse team of assigned personnelAbility to collect, organize, synthesize and analyze findings and develop conclusions and recommendationsKnowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics) and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business)Apply advanced knowledge of modeling techniques (e.g., mathematical modeling, simulation, design of experiments, operations research) to analyze a systemAbility to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another areaTS/SCI active clearance requiredThis position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.This position requires an active U.S Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science20+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experienceExperience in developing space hardware productsExperience in developing requirements and verification/validation plansPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)Experience in development, build and test of spacecraft payloads or vehicle busExperience in a dynamic rapid prototyping environmentPrior history working proprietary programs with a variety of Government entities in a classified environmentAbility to work with a supplier and diverse distributed teamIntegration and testing experienceSatellite vehicle or payload systems engineeringProposal and Systems Engineering Management Plan developmentTypical Education & ExperienceEducation/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years/' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
