And we do it all with heart, each and every day.Position SummaryIn this position, you will support the Aetna pharmacy legal and business teams with respect to a wide range of pharmacy matters including, but not limited to: market conduct exams, regulatory, compliance, risk management, and new business initiatives. The attorney in this role will be expected to provide proactive risk management support. You will identify business and legal risks and provide solutions that balance legal issues and business objectives. You will be expected to work diligently to develop and maintain positive relationships with various clients. You will be required to exercise superior writing and communication skills, with strong attention to detail. The attorney in this role must also work collaboratively in a large, complex corporate structure.Major ResponsibilitiesRegulatory and General Legal SupportWork collaboratively with Aetna Pharmacy Counsel Regional Counsel, Compliance, Government Affairs and business operations teams to help implement policies and/or practices in response to new laws and regulationsCollaborate with the business on the development and review of sensitive internal and external communications to various stakeholders (senior executives, regulators, lawmakers, advocates, members)Assist with responses to Market Conduct ExamsAssist with various regulatory filings, as neededPerform state specific research relating to issues raised while supporting pharmacy functions as requestedCollaborate to conduct and implement federal and state specific legal research involving pharmacy and/or health care servicesWork with the business and internal and external counsel to resolve disputes prior to arbitration/litigationProvide day to day risk management support for Aetna pharmacy business areaCollaborate and work effectively with enterprise business and legal teamsContractingProvide support and/or drafting of pharmacy related agreementsAssist with negotiation of intercompany and external pharmacy agreementsProvide regulatory expertise as it relates to the development of new templates or the negotiation of current templatesDraft new templates in response to business needsNew Products/Initiatives/ExpansionsProvide guidance related to new products/initiatives/service area expansions, related to pharmacyAssist with review and guidance on regulations applicable to new pharmacy businessRequired QualificationsJuris Doctor from ABA-accredited institution required; Bar admission in good standing6+ years legal experienceExperience with regulatory issues requiredDemonstrated business judgment and acumen requiredSuperior oral and written communication skills requiredHigh level of interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities requiredPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of pharmacy lawsExperience working with state regulators and/or responding to state inquiries and exams preferredAt least 2 years’ experience in a law firm health care practice; or in-house experience at a managed care company; or governmental experience preferredEducationJ.D. from ABA-accredited institution required; Bar admission in good standingBachelor DegreePay RangeThe Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $175,100.00 - $334,750.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
