Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion), Senior

OverviewTHOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated senior-level Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion) to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)’s Ship Design Team in Baltimore, MD.An ideal candidate will have prior experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and/or conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components, as well as familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.Typical ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, to include, but not limited to: power supply and propulsion systems.Research and develop ship propulsion systems, to include, but not limited to: diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems, and apply to applicable design and requirements.Develop system documentation and ship specifications.Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery, and review and develop technical data packages, provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements, conduct and oversee trade studies.Location: Full time onsite at USCG Surfaces Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) in Baltimore, MD.Travel: Up to 10% travel is anticipated for ship checks.Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $120,000 – 150,000. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance.
