OverviewStanford Management Company (SMC), the University’s investment office, invests the Merged Pool, which includes substantially all of the University’s investable endowment assets. SMC is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Investment Operations Analyst, School & Department Funds (SDF). The SDF group provides administrative and reporting support for separately invested portfolios with different objectives and mandates for specific schools and departments, including the Stanford Business School Trust, the Stanford Engineering Venture Fund, the Department of Athletics Investment Fund, the President’s Venture Fund, the Law School Venture Fund, the Hoover Fund, among others. The Analyst will report to the Director, School and Department Funds and will work closely with a five-person team to provide investment operations services for these portfolios. The core operational duties require excellent execution and organizational skills to ensure timely and accurate investment data to support investments in start-up companies and fund managers.ResponsibilitiesProcess, record, and perform recurring operational functions throughout a start-up investment’s lifecycle, following relevant guidelines to support the schools; assist with certificate management, shareholder consent processing, corporate action updates, and completing appropriate documentation for realizations.Prepare, track, and analyze data elements required to update investment records based on corporate action activity; ensure work complies with complex internal policies and external regulations which may require interpretation.Collect, enter, research, and reconcile investment transactions and records across internal and external custodial systems to ensure data integrity and accuracy; ensure related documentation is completed and teract with brokers and custodian banks; identify, investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and ensure completion and follow-up of outstanding items, including confirming transactions are properly executed and instructing business partners to ensure accurate recording of all activity.Provide effective, relevant, and focused analytical support for Board investment reports and dashboards.Archive investment fund manager documentation from manager portals onto internal data storage terface with key internal and external stakeholders, and develop and maintain desktop procedures and documentation in a clear and concise manner.Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes and identify opportunities for process improvement.* - Other duties may also be assignedMinimum RequirementsEducation & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Experience with a variety of investment types (public and private).Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts; knowledge of and experience with accounting systems.Proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.Experience in financial modeling and business intelligence applications to produce analysis and presentations.High degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and efficient execution of responsibilities.Robust organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload, set deadlines independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare materials for and clearly communicate information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.Certifications and Licenses: NonePhysical RequirementsConstantly sitting; desk-based computer tasks, use of telephone, writing by hand, sorting/file paperwork.Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11-20 pounds.Rarely reach/work above shoulder.Working ConditionsRoutine and extended working hours during peak cycles.Work StandardsInterpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies found in the University’s Administrative Guide.A background check will be required for all final candidates.We are not able to provide relocation or sponsorship for this position.The expected pay range for this position is $98,000 - $105,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
