The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise-wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers. Job Summary Information Technology Architects design and oversee the architecture of Information Technology systems to ensure alignment with business goals and technological standards. They define system structures, integration points, and technology frameworks to support scalability, security, and efficiency. The IT Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within ServiceNow. This role ensures the CMDB accurately represents the organization/'s IT infrastructure and enables reliable, data-driven decisions that enhance IT service delivery. The IT Architect collaborates with stakeholders across IT to maintain the integrity, automation, and usability of CMDB data and to support ITSM and ITOM processes. Responsibilities Job Duty 1 - Design, develop, and implement Information Technology system architectures, frameworks, and solutions to meet business requirements. Job Duty 2 - Define system design principles, standards, and best practices to guide system development and deployment. Job Duty 3 - Evaluate system technologies, tools, and platforms to recommend optimal system designs and implementations. Job Duty 4 - Conduct system assessments, architecture reviews, and performance tuning to optimize system performance. Job Duty 5 - Lead system design workshops, technical discussions, and architectural decisions with development teams. Job Duty 6 - Establish system governance, compliance, and security measures to ensure system integrity and quality. Job Duty 7 - Mentor, coach, and train system developers, engineers, and architects on system architecture principles. Job Duty 8 - Stay informed about system architecture trends, emerging technologies, and industry standards. Job Duty 9 - Collaborate with stakeholders, project managers, and Information Technology teams to align system architecture with business objectives. Job Duty 10 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Educational RequirementsBachelor/'s Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced certification may be preferred or required (some profiles may require additional education). Other Required QualificationsOvernight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements). Required ExperienceSix or more years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred QualificationsCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Preferred Educational QualificationsMaster/'s Degree Preferred Qualifications - Certifications and Experience ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist CMDB or ITSM ITIL Foundation v3 or v4 Experience implementing or optimizing ServiceNow Discovery or Service Mapping Managing large-scale CMDBs with thousands of configuration items Higher education, public sector, or complex enterprise environments Deep CMDB expertise with large-scale ServiceNow CMDB design, implementation, and maintenance Advanced discovery knowledge (ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping) Reconciliation and normalization mastery for data integrity Integration architecture between CMDB and external systems Proposed Salary Salary based on experience: 122,500 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIES Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population, ability to perform and effectively make important decisions under pressure Demonstrated ability to assess environments, conduct gap analysis, recommend improvements, develop and implement best practices, processes and methodologies KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of work flow process documentation and analysis SKILLS Strong technical skills, including experience with ServiceNow CMDB and ITIL. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering solutions to complex problems. Experience in data analysis and process design. Experience in a higher education environment is a plus Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Additional) Knowledge: Strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform, especially the CMDB module; ITIL and ITSM processes; automated discovery tools and integration techniques Skills: CMDB design and optimization; data normalization and quality assurance; effective communication, training, and stakeholder engagement; technical documentation and system architecture planning Abilities: Analyze and resolve complex technical issues; manage data across distributed systems and integrations; work collaboratively across teams USG Core Values The University System of Georgia values Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Respect.
