DescriptionThe Chief Financial Officer prepares financial analysis of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The role involves supervision over the Controller, Patient Accounts Manager, HR Director, and IT Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversees all financial activities for ACHS and the preparation of relevant financial reports including: Income statementsBalance sheetsReports to the Board of DirectorsReports for government regulatory agenciesStatistical reportsOrganizational, site, department and program budgetsReviews reports to analyze budget projections against actual figures and suggest methods of improving the planning process as appropriateDevelopment, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organizationMaintains the organization’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assetsEstablishes, in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, major economic objectives and policies for the organizationCoordinates and directs the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, including the financial accounting system, and analyzes and reports variancesPrepares and monitors provider productivity reportsFurnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessaryTakes a leadership role in the annual financial audit process by obtaining bids, recommending selection of an auditor to the Chief Financial Officer and Board of Directors Finance Committee, and is responsible for preparing for and monitoring progress toward the completion of this audit in a timely mannerAttends Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings and provides staff support to these committeesPrepares grant budgets and tracks all expendituresPerforms grant draws and handles the reporting in federal grant systemsOversee financial aspects of plant, equipment, and renovationsWorks with IT Manager to prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify, in detail, operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed within existing systemReviews studies and monitors industry trends pertaining to development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs as presented by the IT ManagerActs as a resource to ACHS staff on using financial information available to themMentor staff as they develop overall goals and objectives. Conduct periodic assessments of progress towards achievement of goals and objectives. Conduct performance evaluations in a timely manner.
